Field Log Report, October 2009, 10,000 Acres Signed

by Jesse Hopkins-Hoel

I’m excited to announce that as of October 2009, Little Rock Wind has hit a major milestone. We have now signed approximately 10,000 acres of land in the Big Stone County area, the primary project footprint. Our ultimate goal is to include between 15,000- 20,000 roughly contiguous acres in this development. We‘ve received outstanding local support and interest in Little Rock and we are happy that site control has moved along so swiftly.

I’ve very much enjoyed working on this project as a field specialist. The connections I’ve made have helped bring me closer to the pulse of the community. I feel that I have gotten to know the people in this area well and I’ve had many fun experiences along the way. For example, who would think that I could start informing landowners that they are related to each other. That definitely is a nice ice breaker. Also, from being pulled out of the ditch; to making countless trips to the courthouse; to knowing the “bite” on the Big Stone or Long Tom Lakes without ever having fished them yet; or going through photo albums and digital cameras of trips, grandkids, graduations and marriages- I love it all.

These meetings and conversations are almost always colorful and interesting. I can honestly say that throughout this process that our wind farm development is located in a wonderful and caring community and the project is lucky to have it.

Thank you all for your help, goodwill and excitement! I am fortunate to be working with all of you and I look forward to continuing to build relationships and round out our land needed for a successful wind project. And as always, feel free to call with any questions or give my contact information to anyone interested in participating.

Thank-you!
