National Wind Wins 'Green Business of the Year' Award
We would like to proudly announce that your commitment and local support have helped National Wind become a 2009 Minnesota Environmental Initiative Green Business of the Year Award winner. The award recognizes National Wind's business model of partnering with communities to build utility-scale wind farms. Including your project, National Wind is currently developing twelve families of wind farms across the Midwest and Plains States. We have more than 1000 landowner partners and over 1300 megawatts (MW) of locally-owned wind projects in development or operation in Minnesota alone.
The annual Minnesota Environmental Initiative Awards program pays tribute to innovative projects that have achieved extraordinary outcomes for Minnesota's environment by harnessing the power of partnership. The Minnesota Environmental Initiative is a 17-year-old nonprofit organization that works with other nonprofit, business and government groups to form partnerships towards the development of collaborative solutions to Minnesota's environmental problems.
This award is much like our wind developments in that it is the fruit of a collaborative effort; the prestigious honor from the Minnesota Environmental Initiative would not have been possible without your continued support, advocacy, and involvement. We'd like to thank you for all your hard work, as your dedication strengthens the core of our partnerships with each community.
Also, we acknowledge MEI's success in building consensus to tackle important environmental issues. We also are grateful to the utility sponsors of the 2009 awards, namely Great River Energy, Xcel Energy and Minnesota Power.
