ORTONVILLE- Little Rock Wind, LLC along with managing partner, National Wind, LLC, announced today that it has acquired the assets of the community-owned wind project Big Stone Wind, LLC

The company is pursuing the development of 150 megawatts of wind generated power in Big Stone County.

"We want to develop a wind project for Big Stone County in which the community is the principal benefactor, " said Brent Olson, board member of both Big Stone Wind and Little Rock Wind's project companies in announcing the acquisition.

Big Stone Wind originally consisted of investors and land owners hoping to develop a 20-megawatt wind power project in Big Stone County. The high costs of an engineering study required to apply to connect to the electrical transmission grid had led the group to look at other options. The study for the Midwest Independent System Operators was estimated to cost over $500,000.

Little Rock Wind represents National Wind's seventh large-scale community-owned wind farm development in Minnesota. It is the managing partner for Lake Country Wind, which is seeking to develop wind power in Kandiyohi and Meeker Counties.
